ABOUT MONSERRAT MUNNE
Born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic in 1970. Started her drawing and painting studies at an early age in Santo Domingo with Julita Guerra, Marianela Jimenez and Francisco Gausachs. Graduated from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 1992 with a Bachelor in Fine Arts. Montserrat has successfully shown 3 individual expositions: Casa de Bastidas 1996 and 1998, Casa de Teatro in 1999. Participated in numerous collectives shows in Chicago, Puerto Rico, Geneva, Miami and Santo Domingo. Mention in the Concurso Nacional de Pintura Joven , Helvetas, Casa de Teatro, D.R.,1998. Selected artist of the XIX Conscurso de arte Eduardo León Jiménes, D. R., 2003. 1st Prize winner of Primer Concurso Nacional de La Casa del Artista, Santo Domingo, 2013.
Professional Profile
On the early stages of my career, my artworks consisted mostly of landscapes and portraits. Evolving from the traditional oils to acrylics and mixed media, with a strong sense of light and composition.
Currently directing an Art Club for adults while at the same time actively decorating private rooms and commercial spaces with mural commissions for over 10 years.
• Hold a Bachelor Degree in Fine Art with a vast knowledge in painting and drawing.
• A large body of work shows a portfolio rich in different techniques and media, including oils, acrylics, collages, watercolors and computer design.
• Proficient use of the Internet in order to keep up with today’s social media techniques as an instrument for reaching new markets.
