As some of you may know, I serve as a board member for the Queens Symphony Orchestra which was founded over 60 years ago and our current home is Queens College. As an organization, our mission is to serve the communities in Queens with the highest quality music performances and to educate the public about the importance of music and the arts in our children’s lives. Part of my personal mission as a board member, musician and music educator is to help keep the arts alive and educate today’s children on music and art. The reason being, it is my belief that creativity is the only tool a society has in order to excel; and art is the only tool a society has to develop that creativity. With music and art being cut from public school programs, there is a whole generation of kids that are missing a huge part of their education. Consequently, the audience for music and art is tapering off and many arts organizations are collapsing.
For these reasons, I would like to extend an invitation to the Queens Symphony Orchestra’s upcoming Benefit Concert, Champagne & Mistletoe, which will take place on Monday, December 16th at 7:30 PM at Queens College’s Colden Auditorium. It will be an intimate concert setting with the audience seated on the stage with the orchestra and with special guest Norm Lewis, a Tony-Award nominated Broadway star! For more information about him, please visit his website http://www.normlewis.com . There will be a reception with champagne and confections following the concert. To purchase tickets or to make a donation, follow the link in the invitation below. Your support is very much appreciated. We need all the help we can get in reviving the arts, and I hope you can help be a part of this transformation!
Please let me know if you plan on attending!
Many thanks and best regards,
